This past summer, Barcelona made a move in the transfer market to acquire the services of a young youngster named Pablo Torre from Real Racing Club de Santander. The player currently representing Spain at the Under-19 level will compete for both the first squad and Team B.
After having a breakout year with his hometown team in the previous campaign, Torre has made the move to the Camp Nou. The 19-year-old midfielder has appeared for the club 34 times in all competitions, during which time he has scored 10 goals and contributed 11 assists. In addition to that, he was instrumental in his team's ascent to the second tier of the Spanish league.
Up until this point, the 19-year-old has mostly served as an attacking midfielder on the right side of the field. However, now that Xavi Hernandez is the coach of Barcelona, it is possible that he may not be required to play the exact same role that he has been playing up until this point.
In his address to the club's menia, Torre referred to his presence at the venue as "a pleasure." "Full of happiness and delight."
He stated that Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez were his childhood prizes. "I guarantee that I will do everything that I can for this team."
Since 2015, the footballer who was born in Soto de la Marina has been playing for Racing Santander. On October 18, 2020, in a league match against Portugalete, he made his debut for the club's first team for the first time.
After agreeing to terms on a deal that run until the 30th of June in 2026 and included a buyout provision for 100 million euros, he will now begin his new journey at Barcelona. On Wednesday, January 15, 2022, the contract was finally signed after being negotiated for the previous year.
Torre said his goodbyes to his former team via various social media platforms. He thanked his club in a video message that he uploaded online for assisting him in his development to this point.
"It's not easy to leave the club where I've always been, because the club has become my life," Torre said in the video message. "The club has become everything to me."
"Real Racing Club de Santander will be my home. It is a home that is part of the history of my family, and it is an honor for me to be a part of it."
Torre's father, Esteban Torre, also played for the Verdiblancos and was instrumental in the club's promotion to LaLiga Santander in 1993. Torre has deep ties to the club as a result of these connections.
Now that the move is complete, Torre will call Barcelona his new home. The Catalan club has a significant amount of interest in acquiring the services of this promising young Spanish player.
The newly signed player for Barcelona will most likely be given the opportunity to train with Xavi Hernandez's first-team squad during the preseason.
In addition to this, he has the chance to try to persuade the coach that he is capable of having the same kind of impact that Pedri, Gavi, and Ansu Fati have had.
Xavi came clean and acknowledged that he had been keeping an eye on Torre. "In my opinion, he possesses a natural skill. He excels in set pieces, can play in the middle of the field as well as wide positions, has a good finish, plays with both feet, and has the ability to score goals. Even though he is still very young, he already possesses a lot of natural ability."
"He possesses the talent necessary to play for Barca for a number of years to come. It all depends on him and the way he approaches things, but he is a respectful young man who comes from a footballing family "the coach of Barcelona continued.
"This is a fantastic signing, not only for the present but also for the future. Although he will be a member of an exciting first team, he will also participate with the B team. This is due to the fact that it is crucial for a boy his age to play football, but it is difficult for a boy his age to get first team minutes "said Xavi.
Torre, who has been playing for Spain's Under-19s, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of other Barcelona youth players, specifically Pedri, 19, and Gavi, 17, who were called up to the senior Spanish national team by coach Luis Enrique. Torre has been playing for Spain's Under-19s. If he is able to develop and keep getting better, he has a chance of being given the same opportunity as everyone else.
At Barcelona, Pablo Torre's teammates will present him with challenging competition, including the task of adapting to the game. As was the case with Gavi in the previous campaign, it is possible that Xavi Hernandez will instruct him to attack from a wider range of positions.
